Sounds like life to me

What’s a post without a picture, so here’s a little glimpse into our life this weekend…

Connor and the rest of the family helped his cousin Brody (on the right) celebrate his first birthday yesterday. Brody was born exactly two weeks before Connor which means…that Connor is turning ONE two weeks from tomorrow!!!

We have been busy planning like crazy for his party, which is going to be a barnyard-themed bash with our entire extended families invited.

And that’s not the only thing that has kept us busy lately, but it’s one of the more positive things. Life has just been…well, LIFE lately. Besides the photography, I have quite a few freelancing writing projects that I do on a regular basis all from home and usually while Connor naps, and I usually feel like I do a decent job at keeping up with everything. But two weeks ago when our air conditioning went out and we needed to have a new unit replaced, my focus kinda switched to our home and dealing with that. THEN a few days later, our fridge went out and needed to be replaced as well, and then of course Evan’s car died a night later. (let me give a big shoutout to Jenny and her mom who gave me a ride home from our photo session!!)

So I spent pretty much that whole week dealing with house stuff, and then this week I’ve been trying to pick up the pieces and get back on track with my work. And just when I was feeling a little better and more in control, on Friday, Connor got sick with an ear infection and of course my focus was spent on him the whole day then!

BUT although everything lately has just been piling on us, I am always so grateful for such a happy, healthy family! I just need to get organized now and get back to work!

So that’s been our life lately, but it hasn’t been all bad. We’ve gotten to see lots of family and friends – yesterday  in addition to celebrating Brody’s birthday, Evan and I played in a mini golf tournament with the Young Adult Mass group to raise money for local charities (and our team got 3rd place!) and we also attended an event for a group we’re in called Young Philanthropists (through the Sangamon County Community Foundation) last night at a member’s house out on the lake with good wine and amazing food from 5 Flavors Catering.

We’re gearing up for another busy week this week with a session tonight (sneak peek to come!) and a couple more during Labor Day weekend. So check back for more posts all week! Hope you all are enjoying the end of summer and impending arrival of fall…we’re already excited about the start of the Illini football season next weekend!
